They sit 48", 96" and 144" from the centerline of the forward drive axle and run on aluminum Preset+ hubs with cast drums. The pushers stow higher when lifted to maximize ground clearance, and their regulators are mounted to the frame with switches and gauges in the dash. The engineering-assigned ratings are an 85,000 lb GVWR, an 18,740 lb front GAWR, 11,020 lbs at the first intermediate axle, 23,000 lbs at the second intermediate axle and 23,000 lbs at the rear. Safety systems include 6S6M ABS, Bendix Smart ATC traction control, an SBM valve, a pneumatic park brake and a tire pressure monitoring system. Synthetic lubricant is used in all axles, and the maximum grade rating is 6%. Air equipment includes a heated Bendix AD-HF EP air dryer with a coalescing filter and extended purge, painted aluminum air tanks mounted high at the back of cab where possible, pull cords on all tanks and nylon chassis hose. Brakes are controlled by a dash-mounted, self-returning hand valve. A 110-gallon, 26" polished aluminum fuel tank sits under the left side of the cab with a polished non-slip step and polished straps. A small 14-gallon heavy-duty DEF tank is mounted behind the cab on the left side with a polished stainless cover. Body connections are at 5' behind the cab, and a 7-way socket at the end of the frame comes with 4' of additional coiled lines. Additional chassis equipment includes a polished, deep tapered aluminum bumper set forward, a heavy-duty external tow eye, a polished aluminum battery box above the rails behind the cab, and an aluminum non-slip cab entry step on the aftertreatment unit (right side, under the cab).
Suspension
The rear suspension is a Hendrickson HMX EX 460 HAULMAAX rated at 46,000 lbs, with a 54" axle spread, a 70K creep rating and a 17.5" saddle height. Up front are taper leaf springs rated at 20,000 lbs with Tenneco shocks and 60 mm front spring spacer blocks. The cab rides on its own air suspension.
Cab & Interior
The cab is a 121" BBC aluminum day cab with a Metton hood, a stainless steel crown and grille with tilt assist, a thermal insulation package and Prestige interior trim in Sterling Gray. The driver gets a Peterbilt LX Premium Level high-back air-ride seat in Mordura with left and right armrests. The passenger gets a Peterbilt ST high-back, non-adjustable, non-air-ride seat in Mordura with a left armrest and a toolbox underneath. Both seats are black. The multi-function steering wheel carries the Peterbilt logo and audio and cruise controls, on a tilt/telescoping column. Instrumentation is built around a 15" digital cluster that displays engine oil temperature, transmission oil temperature, air filter restriction, brake application air pressure, turbo boost and engine percent torque. Separate 52 mm backlit gauges show front and rear drive axle oil temperature, fuel filter restriction and the pressure for each of the three pusher axles. Three additional dash switches are wired in behind the dash. Comfort and convenience features include a combination fresh-air heater and air conditioner, power door locks and windows, dark window tint, a one-piece curved windshield, a fixed one-piece glass rear window, electric intermittent wipers, a rear-wall map pocket and a removable bugscreen behind the grille. The cab is finished in two-stage Axalta metallic/pearl Charcoal on the A-panel, fenders, hood top and cab roof, over a black frame.
Body & Equipment
The Heritage aluminum material hauler body measures 20' long and 96" wide. Its 54" sides, topped with a 6" board, are 3/16" aluminum in an enhanced finish, as are the side posts and dirt shedders. The sides carry a 9" extruded top rail and 2" x 6" sideboards on each side, painted to match the cab. The floor is 1/4" at the front and 3/8" over the last 120". It rests on 6" I-beam longsills with rubber cushion and 3-1/2" extruded boxed crossmembers on 12" centers, with a standard bottom rail with radius cleanouts. The bulkhead is a 3/16" radius design with a man door. There is no cab shield: the top of the bulkhead is squared off so the tarp mounts flush. The 60" tailgate is 1/4" thick with a 3" slope and two panels with horizontal bracing only. It has an overslung top hinge, tailgate chains, air controls, a center-mounted coal door and salt locks on each side. The hydraulic system uses a pin-to-pin telescopic front hoist driven by a Hotshift PTO for the Allison automatic, a direct-mount pump with a shifter valve, feathering-valve air control and a pump kickout switch. Controls for the body, strobes and tarp sit in a tower between the seats. Fluid comes from a 35-gallon upright aluminum tank behind the cab, through a 3-line system with shutoff valves, and dash lights show when the PTO is engaged and the body is up. The tarp is an Aero electric arm flip tarp in asphalt material, with the wind screen mounted flush with the front of the body, without expandable sides or a rear flap. Body lighting is an LED package. Combination stop/turn/tail lights sit in the rear posts, two front marker lights sit in front of the tarp wind screen, and extra marker lights run top and bottom on every post, front and rear. Strobes are mounted in front of the wind screen and in the side of the tarp square-off, plus one in each rear post. Round combination rear chassis lights sit in a plate, with an ID cluster on the hinge. Other body equipment includes a pull-out ladder below the bottom rail on the driver-side front panel and inside steps at the front only. A front shovel holder sits on the driver side, and an 8" bolt-on rear apron gives an approximate rear overhang of 12" of body plus 8" of apron. Heritage 30" front mud flaps have an anti-sail bracket ahead of the lift axle, and full-width Heritage rear flaps hang from hooks on straps with chains. The front of the body is squared, and body fenders are built to cover the lift axles. Side liners run full height over approximately the rear 48" of the body, with weld lines hidden behind the posts. An aluminum diamond-plate deckplate between the tank and body has an access step for reaching the man door. The body also has rear tow hooks, a body prop and a back-up alarm. The body is finished in an enhanced finish and washed before delivery.
