    About Altec

Founded in 1929 as the Alabama Truck Equipment Company with the mission statement of “placing the customer first and viewing people as its greatest strength,” Altec originally started out selling utility bodies, front end loaders, and dump bodies. From there, the company expanded to add digger derricks and aerial lifts to its catalogue. It sells products to customers across North America and in more than 100 countries around the world.

Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Altec offers products and services for a wide range of industries, including utilities, telecommunications, and contracting, but it also specializes in boom truck cranes, knuckle boom cranes, bucket trucks, digger derricks, and wood chippers used for tree care. In fact, one of its business units, Altec Environmental Products, focuses specifically on brush and tree chippers, including control-feed and self-feed drum chippers and disc chippers.

They feature anywhere from three to six boom sections with boom lengths ranging from 53 to 152 feet (16 to 46 meters) and load ratings of between 18 and 45 tons (16 and 41 metric tons).

Effer knuckle boom cranes range from the light Effer 145 to the heavy Effer 955. Depending on the exact configuration, you can expect a maximum hydraulic outreach ranging from 21.25 to 76 ft (6.5 to 23.2 m) and maximum lift capacities of between 2.2 and 331 t (2 and 300 mt).

Its telescopic bucket trucks, for example, have platform heights ranging from 30.1 to 82.8 ft (9.2 to 25.2 m) and max reaches of between 22.7 and 62 ft (6.9 and 18.9 m). One example of a popular model is the AT37G. Depending on the configuration, it has a max reach of 28.3 ft (8.6 m) and a platform capacity of up to 400 pounds (181 kilograms).
