About International

International Trucks is a Navistar brand that began as the International Harvester Company back in 1902. Throughout its history, International Harvester produced light and heavy tractors, combines, balers, cultivators, and other agricultural machinery as well as construction equipment and light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks.

International DuraStar

After succumbing to a series of financial struggles, International Harvester’s agricultural division was sold to Tenneco, an automotive company based in Illinois. That division became Case IH in 1985. In 1986, International Harvester changed its name to Navistar International Corporation, which is the parent company of International Trucks and IC Bus. The corporation also produces defense vehicles under the Navistar Defense banner.

International Trucks

International manufactures light-, medium-, heavy-, and severe-duty commercial trucks. Popular model lines include the CV Series, DuraStar, HV Series, HX Series, MV Series, PayStar, TranStar, and WorkStar. One of the most popular International models is the DuraStar, which is available in 4100, 4200, 4300, or 4400 variants. It supports a gross combination weight of 66,000 pounds (29,937 kilograms) and gross vehicle weights of between 23,500 and 44,600 lbs (10,659 and 20,230 kg). It’s available in 4x2 and 6x4 configurations with a day, extended, or crew cab and a wheelbase of between 128 and 254 inches (3,251 and 6,452 millimeters). Engine options include Cummins B6.7s and L9s that produce between 200 and 350 horsepower (150 and 260 kilowatts) and from 520 to 1,000 pounds-foot (705 to 1,356 newton-meters) of torque.

Tractors

While the vast majority of International products on Tree Trader are trucks, International Harvester lives on in the form of hundreds of used tractors for sale from the early 1900s all the way through 1985. These are all light tractors with engines that produce less than 40 HP (30 kW). Some are antiques that would serve well as a historical showpiece, while others are either still in good working condition or have been restored and reconditioned and are ready to go to work.
