Kubota of Osaka, Japan, manufactures a variety of equipment suitable for landscaping and tree care. Its products for this segment include tractors of less than 40 horsepower (30 kilowatts), track and wheel skid-steer loaders, lawn mowers, and excavators that support attachments such as mulchers.

The firm got its start in 1890 as a foundry for cast metal products. It produced its first kerosene engines in 1922. Kubota built its first tractors for agriculture in 1962, and founded a corporation in the United States 10 years later. Today it employs more than 40,000 full-time workers.

Kubota B01 Series Compact Tractor

Products

Kubota’s BX Series of sub-compact tractors spans a range of 16.6 to 24.8 HP (12.4 to 18.5 kW). Like most of the company’s small tractors, BX models have four-wheel drive, folding rollover protection systems (ROPS), and midsection and rear power take-offs (PTOs). The series’ hydrostatic transmissions have two stages.

In the next weight class up, you’ll find Kubota’s compact tractors, including the 20.9- to 24.3-HP (15.6- to 18.1-kW) B Series. This diesel-powered family includes a drive-over mid-mount mower and either a three-range HST or gear-drive transmission. The LX Series comes in models with 24.8 to 30.8 HP (18.5 to 23 kW) and either a ROPS or a full cab. The long-running L Series, meanwhile, starts at 24.8 HP (18.5 kW). Units are available with 2WD or 4WD and either a three-range HST or a transmission with eight forward and eight reverse gears. The premium Grand L60 Series adds eight- and 12-range HST options. Finally, the L60LE Limited Edition Series starts at 37 HP (27.6 kW) with cab or open-station options.

Kubota’s SVL Series embodies the company’s line of track skid steers. SVL loaders come in 68.3- to 96.4-HP (50.9- to 71.9-kW) editions. On the wheel skid steer side, Kubota’s SSV Series provides 64 to 74.3 HP (47.7 to 55.4 kW) of power and productivity.

The manufacturer produces lawn mowers in zero-turn (Z Series), stand-on (SZ Series), walk-behind (WG, WH, and WHF Series), front-mount (F Series), and lawn and garden tractor (T and GR Series) configurations.

Finally, Kubota’s compact excavator family ranges from 1.1 to 9.7 tons (1 to 8.8 metric tons) in operating weight. Its KX Series comes in 10.3- to 66.4-HP (7.7- to 49.5-kW) variants, and its U Series is available with 16.1 to 47.6 HP (12 to 35.5 kW) of power.
