    About Tag Semitrailers

Tag semitrailers offer versatility for tree care professionals. They can transport all kinds of things, from smaller equipment like riding lawn mowers, aerators, dethatchers, mini excavators, and compact tractors to larger heavy machinery.

Tag trailers are also well-suited for transporting outdoor power equipment and tools like weed eaters, rakes, and shovels as well as landscaping materials such as gravel, soil, sand, mulch, and plants.

Many tree and landscaping operations use tag trailers to haul lawn and tree care equipment behind chipper trucks, skid steers, or dump trucks. Tag trailers safely attach to these machines with bumper hitches or pintle hitches.

    Common Tag Semitrailer Features

Tag semitrailers, or “tag-along trailers,” have a hydraulic, adjustable, and other type of ramp, or beavertail, at the rear for loading and unloading wheeled and motorized equipment and vehicles.

The most common woods used to construct the decks are fir, pine, oak, and apitong. Apitong and oak are the most durable of the four. Pine is the least durable, as it’s more susceptible to cracking and chipping.

Tag semitrailers typically have two or more axles and either frame-level or gooseneck hitches. Optional extras can include hydraulic ramps, tilting decks, electric hydraulic or air brakes, and movable D-rings.

    Buy The Right Tag Semitrailer

Tag trailers come in various sizes to support different transport needs. Smaller tag trailers can typically haul smaller landscaping machines like a riding lawn mower or a few weed eaters. Heavy-duty tag semitrailers can safely transport full-size construction equipment like articulating boom lifts, excavators, or crawler dozers. These heavy-duty models can haul equipment weighing 60 tons (54.4 metric tons) or more.

When choosing the right tag semitrailer for a business, buyers should consider the size of the landscaping equipment and type of materials they plan to haul. Other features to watch for include hitch type (frame-level and gooseneck are common), number of axles, and optional features such as tie-downs, hydraulic or air brakes, and tilting deck.
